What are your thoughts on using studs on hind shoes for a horse that has trouble on hard/dry ground? Studs only put in before the run and taken out right after.

To much torque on the hocks and stifle. If the ground is that bad, it's probably not his cup of tea on that particular ground. Personally, I'd just avoid races in that particular arena. There are always plenty of other choices.

no. that would be too much grab and risk tearing the hock up pretty bad I would think.
