My baby brother (ok, so he's 18) is graduation next month. He is 11 years younger than me and is the youngest in the family. He's also the only boy. He LOVES baseball and has been the pitcher for his high school the last 3 years.  He is going to college in the fall. I have no idea what to get him!! He also likes guns, bows, likes to hunt, video games, etc. He's a great kid, makes really good grades.

I know money is probably the most wanted gift and I will probably give him some money, but I'd like to get him something meaningful or unique. Any ideas?

Something useful, 16 years something since I graduated I couldn't tell you anything I got as a grad present other than a snaffle bit key chain, which is the only thing I still use.

Not meaningful or unique, but.........
A bag to carry all that dirty laundry either home on the weekends or to the laundry.  I got one and was so glad to have it.

Maybe a digital picture frame so he can upload pictures as he chooses and change it when he wants.  Again, not unique, but if you put personal pictures on there for him it could be very meaningful.

If you prefer something unique, I would suggest the graduation bear wearing robe, cap and hood, with the colors to match with the school. What's more, the grad's name, school's abbreviation and year of graduation will be embroidered on the robe too! It's cute, unique and for long lasting memories.

You may check it out at www.degreebear.com

Got any cool pictures of him pitching or even just in his uniform? Frame one and give that to him.
My baby brother is also 18 and graduates from high school Sunday. He's the second baseman on his team and I am going to go through all the baseball pics I've taken this season (I work for the local newspaper) and hopefully find a really good one or two and frame those for him. If I get really energetic, I may make a few into a collage and print that.

If he is going to college, he may embrace getting to be on his own, but I bet he will have those moments where he misses his parents and family. How about a digital picture frame with pics of him AND his family from his childhood. Kind of a reminder of where he came from for those days he feels lonely. College freshman probably rarely feel lonely, but there may be that one night where he needs it.

Funny this post made it's way back up, his graduation is tonight! lol. I'm putting money in with his card, wrote him a heartfelt letter with older sisterly advice and got him a baseball holder for the two home run balls he hit this year. He has them sitting on the mantle at the house and shows anyone who walks in the door. I got him a baseball holder and plaque for each one with his name, team name and the date he hit those home runs on each plaque. I think he'll like it. My sisters and I also put a ton of his childhood and baseball pics together in an album, from tee ball through just a few weeks ago.  A family album would be good too. May have to make one just because, even after graduation.

Although not extremely personal, one thing my friend's daughter has really found useful this year during her first year of college is gift cards.  She got gift cards to various fast food places, Walmart, etc.  They've really come in handy for her at times.

And a bottle of laundry soap so he could do his own in the dorms....

Such a great idea!! When I graduated high school, I wanted all the cutesy personalized stuff - literally two weeks ago I found it all in a box that hadn't been opened since the day I packed it all away.

The ball would be something he could display in an office someday, or in his home, and take pride in even as an adult. And plus, if he played sports - he probably already has a billion sweatshirts and other school-colored items. The baseball would be a memento of his FAVORITE part of school :)

One of the best things I got was Visa gift cards. You can use them anywhere that takes Visa. I don't like collecting a bunch of paper money because at the time I didn't have a checking account so Visa gift cards were awesome.
