Location: Finally horseback again.... | I am in the process of planning my vacation. I have seven days of anything I want to do. I know I want to see Yellowstone, do a kayak trip and will end up in northern Idaho to see friends at the end of the week. What is the best places to go and see? This is my bucket list vacation, somewhere I have always wanted to see. I really dont want to follow a strict timeline, just go, see and enjoy.
Can ya'll help me out with some ideas and great places?
Thank you in advance

Location: Under the Big Sky - Montana | I live near Yellowstone but have never actually been through the park. I've been through Glacier Park a few times and absolutely love it. Someone once told me if you want to see wildlife, go through Yellowstone, if you want scenery go to Glacier. I have seen Mountain Goats and Bighorn Sheep in Glacier.
I grew up in the western part of Montana. That is where you will see the trees, mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. The eastern end of the states meets the plains of North Dakota. No trees, not much for rivers, small sloping hills, no mountains. There is a lot of history in the state, just depends on what interests you.

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Start in Bozeman drive down through Gardiner into Yellowstone, Go to Cody, eat at the Proud Cut Saloon, Great steaks, or Zapata's great Mexican food. See the Buffalo bill museum. It takes a while to get through but is so worth it!!! Go back itn Yellowstone, see the fishing bridge, and Old Faithful. Then go out to Jackson, ride the tram up Snow King and have a picnic lunch, it is a great view, go to the Mill Iron Ranch and eat a steak. Chancy makes the BEST steaks!!! Raft the Snake river. Go to the Cowboy and drink a beverage and sit in the saddles. Then go over Teton pass into Idaho. Driggs is BEAUTIFUL!!! Of go down through Hoback Canyon and through Swan Valley, nice drive and you can stop at the lake and hang out, fish, swim, or just soak up some sun! Let me know if you need more ideas. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Early June part of the park will be closed and some of the passes will have bad snowy roads. I went through the park years ago on June 6th and was shocked it still had places closed due to snow. I agree with the Glacier and if you have time stop over near Sheridan. It's gorgeous there. |
