Elite Veteran Posts: 617	I was going to breed my mare, but I'm moving soon and decided it may not be the best thing at the moment. The breeder said she doesn't mind if I sell the breeding since I had already paid for it in full. Whats the best way to go about selling it? Should I make up a contract for it if I sell it... or just have them sign the breeding contract with the stud owner? Never done this before so not sure how you exactly go about selling a breeding

Midget Lover Location: Kentucky	I will tell you that I tried to sell a breeding, and people didn't want any part of it because you are basically going off the seller's word that the stallion owner will honor it. Unless you get a written and signed document from the stallion owner stating that the breeding is fully transferable.

Expert Posts: 4625 Location: Desert Land	I would advertise your breeding saying that the stallion owner has approved of the sale and can verify that. I have bought a couple of breedings this way from people selling.

The stallion owner sent me a contract with the changes made to the verbage, initialed. I took out an ad here on BHW and I got it sold for nearly the face value of the stud fee. Everyone is happy as far as I know.

I figure 95% of people have bred or have a stud picked out at least for this yr. Something is better than nothing lol It is what it is.
