Is anyone using these bits to run in? If you were and have stopped I would be interested in hearing why. Also if using them to prevent bleeding, did your horse still bleed when you ran in them? Input appreciated. PM response is ok.

I have a western, I use it for flexion but he doesn't like it going around barrels. He's more of a hack horse around barrels

I would love to know how one works on a horse that gets it's tongue over the bit. I was going to make the plunge and get one, but at $125...they are a bit pricey for it to not work.

I have had the western without the plate and traded it for one with the plate. My horse doesnt bleed but I thought I would try it. I dont prefer them- actually my horse rides with pretty much anything so it didnt feel really any different. I am going to sell the one I have now.

I have a western with the plate, I have only had it long enough to ride in the pasture with it. So far I like it OK, if my horse didn't have such severe breathing issues I wouldn't use it.

His breathing is much quieter with this bit so it must be helping, he was actually louder with a tongue tie which was what the vet suggested.  I am hoping to get to make a run with it soon, I am pretty sure I will really have to watch my hands as it is a lot of bit for him.  Not so much woried about the run as I am pulling him up afterwards, He is high headed anyways and I don't want his head in my face.

I have the Western without the tongue plate.  I think my horse displaces his soft palate but only does it sometimes.  Wanted to try without the tongue plate first and see how he does.  I have only run him in it twice, but so far I am really liking it.
