I have a really hot mare that balances on my hands. my hands and arms get tired, half way through our workout. I'm constantly pulling on her face, but when I put my hands down and get off her face she will run off. i've been told to try a wire tie down. Anyone have any advice :-
) Seems like a easy fix but it has giving me a run for my money

I will bump this up for you. I am not classified as an expert because I still learn something new every day.

how long have you had her? When I've had one like this, its usually been a long, slow progressing fix. When they are hot like that, it's more about fixing and calming their mind down than it is getting them off your hands.
When I was younger I had a mare like that. she was hot and easily frazzled. I knew she was nice but didnt know what to do with her or how to get it out of her. We found a trainer who really excels at those kinds of horses. She got my horse loping on a loose rein. I rode with her for several years and learned a lot. She changed my mare's entire state of mind. I wish I could explain everything over the internet.
ETA- i thought of a few questions
how do your rides typically go? how long do you lope with her fighting you before you call it a day? have you ever tried loping her down until she is tired enough to be calm? I would start there, and once she finally settles and relaxes- stop for the day. it may take some days of loping for what feels like forever. They have to learn that they are the ones making them work hard, not you. they need to learn that calm and collected= reward and shorter workout.
