So Ford or Chevy? Probably looking at 2011 up to new ones not sure yet. Looking at either F350s or 3500 duallys. Any major problems with either on? What years are the best for either truck? and what am I looking at with what kind of milage I am going to get? (not hauling necessarily)

I've not had experience with any of the new diesels...but if I had my choice I would go with the new Ford 6.7L diesel. Haven't heard anything bad about them yet...but then again I'm a Ford fan.  My next choice would be a Dodge. We love Dodge diesels...and if I knew more about the newer ones (technicall Rams now), they would be tying for first.

Heard through the grape vine..... the new fords are "almost" bomb proof. Main issue is the radiator.....Manufactures of the radiators short cutted on the materials. All other parts are primo . No other issues. Twice as fast better mileage, no chip necessary. Diesel.

We have both, son has dodge. Did a "pull test" same route, same load. GMC won hands down for power, Ford 2nd, Dodge 3rd. Ford gets better fuel mileage, Dodge rode better. We tried to make it as fair as possible.

LuckyNGG'sGirl - 2014-06-02 10:10 PM I would go with Chevy if having to pick between just those two. The newer Fords are crap IMHO. ETA: I'll rephrase - the newer Fords (not the NEWEST Fords) are crap besides the powerstroke. :)

I'm confused.

We've had all 3 & Chevy Durmax diesel has been the best.  Most comfortable interiors, user friendly interiors, pulls absolutely awesome.  We have always have 4x4's & fuel mileage has been good.  Never been a Ford fan.  They are way overpriced & the interiors are overloaded with tiny buttons, just not impressed with them at all.  I've always been a Chevy fan.

I have a newer Chevy, and if I weren't so upside down in it I would own a ford already. I hate the way mine pulls and have had lots of issues.

FORD! the 6.7 or 7.3, unfortunately the 7.3 would be old but that is still one of their best engines. The 6.4 has lots of power but lots of problems too! we avoid the 6.0 and 6.4.

If you could only get a little of all, the Ford body and interior, the Dodge engine, and the Chevy transmission! Now that would be a truck worth trying in my opinion!

I owned only Ford diesels for years. But, several years ago I bought a new Dodge. I got such a good deal on it that I had to try it. At 103,000 miles it has not been back to the dealer since I drove it off of the lot. The only thing done to it besides tires, oil an filters was brakes at 90k miles, and a set of batteries, all done by my local shop. Best truck, by far, that I have ever owned. I just added another Dodge last week, again because it was a good deal. I just can't seem to pay the extra that Ford wants when I have this kind of luck with Dodge.

I have a 2015 Denali dually diesel and so far I love it. It is quiet and powerful. We joke that it is so quiet you can hear the argument brewing on long trips. I have a 2006, 2008, 2010 and the 2015 duramax duallys and they are the best trucks. This winter they started at -20 and never cranked hard without being plugged in. We run the wheels off them pulling trailers and they have never let me down. The features on the 15 are great. They increased the storage and the screens to back up are wonderful. I can tell you the headrest in the 10 is not as comfortable as the 06 or the 15 but at that point I am getting picky. If you have any questions let me know, we have used the duramax since they came out and I love them.

I vote for a duramax too. Had an 01  3500 with 425,000 and lord only knows how many miles with it current owner and still going strong. My husband and I both have 06 3500's mine has 150,000 his has 250,000. I love how they pull. milage on the 06's is pretty good.  If I needed a new truck I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new duramax.
