Horse yawns with bit...Help!

Within the past few months my horse has started to yawn/chew on his bit. If Im in the arena he wont mess with it. As soon as we stop or go out on the trail he starts to yawn or play with his bit. I have tried a few different bits and still cant figure out why he is doing it? The vet came out 2 weeks ago and said his mouth looked great and teeth are fine. Chiro came out and adjusted him. Could this be a habit? Maybe he is bored with trail riding or sitting still? Ive tried the following bits over the past 2 months and Ive had the same problem. When racing, his mouth is quiet.
1. plain ol snaffle bit
(standard no twists
)
2. Jr. Cow Horse with dog bone
3. Double Gag Goose tree with dog bone
4. Jr. Cow Horse with roller
Any ideas?

Does he yawn out in the pasture. I read that when they are yawning they are stressed and "holding their breath" in a way somewhere. Maybe that's it. A quick remedy may be a cavesson.

My horse yawns a lot, lol he must have an active night life that I do t know about. He especially does it if we are at am rodeo slack. He does it tied to trailer in halter and also when he has his Bridle on. On time he even yawned when we first walked I to an arena that had a long alleyway he had never rub at before. I think they yawn for same reasons people do. He does not ya with his bit ever though. I do have others that chew or chomp on their bits. They tend to do that when they get nervous or stressed. So I know I did not even remotely answer your question, but those have just been my experiences.

My horse yawns all the time BUT he's actually trying to get his tongue over the bit, not really yawn. He's a dweeb.

I had a gelding that yawned every single time you went to bridle him. I know his current owner very well and he still does this...lol. I think it was just nervous tension being released.

I have read that yawning in horses can also be a sign of pain....

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I rode him again last night and had a gal watch him. Looks like he wants to put his tongue over the bit. Is there anything i can do to stop it?
