DIY info needed on re-sealing trailer roof

I have a 2002 aluminum Cherokee invasion. The roof is metal and is seamed together with what appears to be some sort of tape
(maybe?
) where the roof metal meets the harder aluminum and is then coated with a sealant. I'm wanting to re-seal these areas and cool seal
(paint on sealant
) the top. Anyone have any tips and knowledge from their DIY experiences they can share. What you would have done different, what worked for you, what you wouldn't have done. Thanks in advance . .
