| Some days we are pulled and pushed and stretched every which way. As the pressures of living mount, we feel our sense of well being slowly disintegrating. During some adversity our true colors tend to show, revealing who we are and where we are putting our trust.
If we place our trusts in the doctor to heal us, or our jobs to pay us, or our supervisors to provide our sense of identity, our faith has been misplaced, and pressure will reveal this one day. Those instruments will fail to provide all we need. Our faith must be firmly placed in God, the great Provider. Anything else, and pressure will reveal our weakness.
Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden and overburdened and I will cause you to rest. (I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.)
Our first protective measure against stress is to make sure we take a weekly rest. Spend time in His presence, reading God's Word . Feed your mind as you rest your body. In your quiet time, give the Spirit a chance to light upon you, giving you discernment , realigning your priorities, and allowing you to see your life, circumstances, needs, and desires through the eyes of God.
Second, daily rest, something our Lord did on a regular basis. Luke 5:16 Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. When you eagerly seek the Lord throughout the day, you will find Him and He will give you rest on every side 2 Chronicles 15:15 Third focus on and trust in God. In times of anxiety we tend to let fear replace faith. We feel like Job; What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil. Job 3:25-26 Constantly remind yourself that with Jesus , you have nothing to fear . You can trust in the One who will never leaver nor forsake you. Continually shore up that trust by claiming God's promises, reading the Word and applying it to your life. Keep your eye on Christ, not your fears or circumstances.
Fourth, daily ask God to help you keep your peace and give you joy on the journey through life, knowing that stress, although tortuous at times, CAN make you a stronger person James 1:2-4 All the while keep in mid that no matter how difficult a situation may seem, nothing is impossible with God. Finally , give you burdens to Jesus and leave them there. His shoulders were made to carry them. Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Continually, turn to God, resting in His presence, trusting in Him, and allowing Him to carry your load. Build your life not on the world and its pleasures but on His words, hearing them and putting them down into practice Matthew 7:24 and your foundation will structurally sound, able to resist the cracks brought on by the storms of life.
Father, I have been running, running, running in all different directions, but I need to run to You now and stay here in Your presence. I am thirsting for You as I have never thirsted before. My future looks bleak. I cannot see beyond my troubles. But I now focus on Your light. It warms my skin, touches my heart, and speaks to my soul. I join my spirit with Yours and rest here at Your feet. Guide me to do all things to bring glory and honor to You. AMEN
HAVE A VERY BLESSED FRIDAY AND WEEKEND. REST IN FAITH OF GOD'S WORD
FOR IT IS WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
