Just started dealing with a bleeder, do you give your lasix IV or IM and how far out?

Thanks for any info!

I give 3cc IV 2 hours out per my vet. He also said I might have to play with times and doses slightly if he bled through the lasix. So far his recommendations are working fine.

I give my lasix IM 2 hours before I run. My vet said give IV if I need it to kick it quicker for whatever reason.

Since on the race track, it's IV and 4 hours out.

I did IV because it didn't take as long and I pulled water and hay.  In the summer I felt too bad letting my mare go 4+hrs without water.  I would give IV about 1.5hrs out.  It's easier to time 1.5hrs than 4hrs.

With my gelding his perfect time frame is 3cc 3 hours out. I thought I missed my "window" the other day and he ran better than he ever had. Its been spot on ever since. Every horse is different. I have a friend who's will bleed without lasix but can ply give UP to a half cc. Id start 3cc IV 2 hours out and just play with it until you found your horses needs.

I give 2 1/2 cc's 2 hours out.  I have had him scoped after a race and he is not bleeding with this program, works for him.

It is easier to give it closer to race time.  If it's working for your horse, then I sure wouldn't change it.  The studies done on racehorses show that giving it 4 hours out is ideal to get max results.   It's more effective given IV.
