| I am considering purchasing a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 with the new 6.4L Hemi motor. It is approximately $7000 less than the new diesel. Has anyone had any experience with this new motor, and any fuel economy reports? |

Location: Florida.. | Hemis get horrible fuel mileage and wont last as long if your hauling IMO |

| My husband & I just bought the exact same truck you are looking at about a month ago . We absolutely love it !! It has plenty of power .. It pulls our 3 hrs exiss with a 6 ft sw living quarter , approx. 12,000 lbs like its not even there . When we first got it , it was getting a out 9.2 mpg. It's getting a little broke in & it's now getting 10.1 mpg.. I imagine it'll only get better . We have had diesels in the past & we can't keep them running ! Break down constantly.. We had the 5.7 L 3/4 ton hemi before & loved it .. But it was smaller so we traded it for a diesel .. Broke down on us twice in 3 months ! The hemi never once failed us .. So we traded the diesel for the 6.4 L hemi .. So far love it! I don't think it'll leave us stranded on the side of the highway :) and that's worth a little more gas money to me.. Although I don't think it does bad at all pulling that much weight. |

Gas motors are cheaper in general to maintain .. Not to mention you pay more for diesel. so all in all i bet it evens out cost wise ... with our luck it will anyways lol . If your diesel is getting 12 then 10 isn't bad for a gas motor .. And it'll get better than that when it's broke in I'm sure. It's only got a thousand miles on it . We spent $5600 in fixing the diesel in 3 months .. No thanks ! If anyone is looking into the hemis , I highly recommend them. Jmo! |

THANK YOU for the information!!! I'll be towing about the same weight as you, too! I've only heard rumors of how good the new Hemi is, but never an actual pulling testimonial. And your MPG sounds pretty darn good for a gasser. I bet when it's broke in you'll be getting 12 pulling. |

I'm thinking that the diesel will always get better mileage than the V8, and will have more towing power.
Benefits for me right now getting a gasser are because the initial cost is less for the V8 buying new, diesel fuel is more expensive than gas, you have to mess around with DEF fuel on the diesel, and I'm not towing more than 60% of my miles. Economically the diesel doesn't make sense for me. But when diesel was so much cheaper, I probably wouldn't have even considered the V8. |

I will definitely give you a report because I did get it! Signing the papers today. Probably have it next week. They need to get the hitch, bed liner, and running boards on.
Also, is yours a 6 speed automatic? |
