Has anyone ever made one of these? From the pictures, it is a tall center pole in the ground and looks just like this "T" but swivels. I am dying to fire my welding machine up and make one. I am hoping someone on here has made one or knows where I could find a pattern? It looks kind of like a simple homemade walker.

I just had a light bulb moment on how I can make one! I just need a really big pipe first. I happen to have an axle from an unfortunate lack of greasing on an atv trailer. Apparently the hubby NEVER greased it and I was traveling across the state for work one day and picked up the ATV that my agency has so I could use it. Later when I stopped I noticed that the axle no longer had a bearing and was kind of attached to the wheel still. I parked it at a nearby distant relatives house and a pile of money later I now have that axle with one side that is still good. If I buy a bigger pipe and concrete it in the ground and around it- I can put the axle into the pipe, weld it and then attach the old hub with a new bearing and seal. Could cut the wheel studs off the hub and weld the bar that goes out with the chain attached. So I figure if you know a nearby trailer place, they might have a bad axle they removed that would only be worth scrap price for them.

Otherwise all you would need from the store to make it from scratch would be a big pipe for a spindle to fit in. New or used appropriate sized hub, grease seal, bearing, cap and a smaller piece of pipe to weld across the top. Then weld chain to the top pipe. I know my local scruggs farm supply carries all those items. Of course it is like the LOWES of farm stores.

A guy parked by us at a shoot and tied his horse up to one of those, it looked so neat! His horse is kind of nutty and usually paws and whinnies the whole time he's tied up but this allowed him to move around and it seemed to keep him calm. Sorry I'm no help with building one, but good luck!

My grandfather made one for us. Its a big pipe with a hub on the top that spins. It works wonders when Im teaching my yearlings the art of standing tied for long hours. I have never had one set back or freak out on it. I always keep a bungee tie on it, and when they pull it just brings them right back. I have a small round pen built around it just incase the bungee breaks, I dont have to worry about them running all over the place.

Yes, he does- but have you seen what he's asking for it?  Something like $800 and I know you can make it for much less.   The other poster said her grandfather made one with a wheel hub...looks just fine to me.

Anyone know how to make one for trailers?  I think I could then stop having anxiety when I leave my horse by the trailer!

Yep. There's one that travels flush on trailer and swings out to tie. The horses can even lie down. It's HiTie Trailer System. Valley Vet sells them.

I didn't know what got for them but I figured it would be outrageous.  I just thought if he has a picture of one she might get some ideas from it.  I would love to have one but I'm not smart enough to figure out how to make one and I am certainly not going to pay $800.
