Location: British Columbia | A few days ago I was outside seeding the lawn and a deer ran towards me, panicked and jumped into the chicken wire fence and got stuck. I tied it's back legs and pulled it out but it had broken it's neck in the struggle. When it finally stopped breathing I noticed there were HUGE maggots coming out of it.Our friend who came and got it to clean it and hang it said that that is totally normal and they live in the spines of large animals and sometimes in horses along their spines...Is that true? I was mortified, I have a phobia of larvae, worms, caterpillars and maggots. |

Location: Phoenix | I vaguely remember someone posting about how their horse had soreness on their neck and there ended up being like larva or something in their neck and it was causing stiffness. It was super weird and gross but I recall this post about a year or so ago. |

| Sounds like warbles. Horses can get them. I want to think they have a life stage, where Ivomec won't control them. That I'm not certain about. |

| Screw worms are in cattle and can get into horses... the fly lays the egg just under the skin and then the larvae grows and becomes a bump. Then it comes out of the skin and turns into a fly. REALLY gross |

Location: SW MO | If it had an old wound on it back it could have very well had maggots. They will get in wounds in the summer. They will even get on calves that scours & eat a hole in them. But I have never heard of them just living on an animal. Maggots eat out the flesh so they would eat a big whole in anything they are in, they couldn't live in their spine with out do damage to it |
