| Where I live, unfortunately, we have no saddle fitters anywhere in the state. I've tried several friend's saddles with no luck on my gelding who's foundation built, so he's extremely broad shouldered and wide backed. Every saddle I've tried pinches him in his shoulders to the point where, when cinching him, he nearly explodes. Sloan's widest fit was the worst, and the double J charmyne wide tree was almost as bad. Right now I have him in a 7" steinhoff flex tree with a pretty good flare, and it works but it isn't anywhere near what he needs. I'm not in the market for a brand new, custom saddle (as much as I wish I was) so I'm looking to buy used, but have no idea what would even work for him since everything I've tried so far has come up short.
Has anyone else run into these problems and found a saddle to fit?

| Yes, my gelding has a very short wide back, and very prominent shoulder blades. I found that the older Martin's fit him LIKE A GLOVE! They have nice flare in the front of the bars that accommodate his wide shoulder area. | |

| Call crown c and speak with Brian, I have heard they will send you one on trial to get the fit, then you can look for a used one with the gullet.
Crown c is phenomenal to work with, great customer service, but I do suggest trying before you buy as they are not for everyone or every horse.
You could try and find a caldwell maxxed out, that is their widest.
I know you said no to custom, but I have a difficult to fit, crown c doesn't fit her, I have been speaking with PSC saddle and she says if I custom one and it doesn't fit, I can return it and she will build me one that will fit. I am just deciding on all the little details.

| My mare was terrible to fit and finding a used saddle in my seat size proved difficult. I ended up ordering a G Bar G and it has flatter bars and my mare is so much happier, not cinchy anymore! Best of luck I hope you find something! | |
