Location: Rome GA | I have an older Caldwell saddle. I'm not sure what has happened with it, but it came to me squeaky with leather like cardboard. I have cleaned it with saddle soap and oiled it with Lexol and Caldwell's Miracle Juice. It looks great, then after a couple weeks riding it dries out and gets squeaky again. I've done this 5 - 6 times. Any suggestions? |

Location: CA | I use Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP. It seems to keep all my stuff soft and supple for a really long time.

Location: Displaced Iowegian | The squeaking is probably the leather rubbing against the tree.....squirt some baby powder up under the jockeys to the tree underneath. For very dry leather, clean the saddle throughly and then use Black Rock....hubby is a saddlemaker and that is his "go-to" conditioner. |

Norma, does black rock work well with dried up cracked reins? |

Yes, we use it on any really dry leather......just wipe them down good after applying it and letting it set awhile. |

To add to this .... I have used Black rock and skidmore's both like this with great results ...
slather on, wipe off excess, throw reins in a black plastic bag, set in sun for an afternoon, then pull out and wipe off excess. Works really really well.

| I just ordered some Blackrock on Amazon Prime for a saddle that literally is screaming for oil (even though I've used about 2 jugs on it) so that will be the true test! I'll be back with updates!
