APHA Impressive testing
If a horse is a registered APHA with Impressive in their bloodlines, does the APHA require testing like AQHA? Does the result show on the papers? I just ran across a very, very nice APHA bred the way I like but then I saw that there was Impressive back there when I checked allbreedpedigree.com.,I was a little concerned. Anybody know how APHA treats Impressive bred registered horses?

Last I knew APHA did not require any testing of Impressive horses.
However, any of the "younger" AQHA registered horses would have to be tested of which AQHA would note on their papers.

Thanks for your reply. It's a shame APHA doesn't require testing like the AQHA. The testing and noting it on papers is something I firmly believe in.

Did you ask the breeder owner if its been tested? Just because theres nothing on file with the registry dosent mean the owners dosent have the AG lab results. I know my appy mare is like that nothing on her paper but the AG lab results are avaible. She tests everything!

I have mare with Impressive that I bought five years ago and at that time
APHa did not require testing. But the owners tested her for anyway
I have never received any request from APHA for any proof of testing

Thanks for the replies. Apparently, if I wanted to know about the HYPP status of this horse before purchasing, I'd need to anty up the funds to have it done and place a deposit on the horse to while we wait for results. I think I'll pass.

Maybe. The people I bought my mare from did it at my request with out a deposit. But probably everyone won't But they probably figured if they were gonna sell her, they needed to do it anyway
But of course, they knew I was really interested in her, I guess you could always ask.
