Location: Alberta | If you guys don't mind saying a few quick prayers for my mom that would be really appreciated. She has been trying to get back to riding (after raising 4 kids and we are all moved out now) and shes been looking for a new horse for a long time. I found one on facebook and he sounded like an awesome fit so she went last night to try him out. She had rode him for over a half hour, out through trees and pasture (wanting a trail horse). He rode like a dream but she said he felt a little off while trotting in tall grass so wanted to work him a bit in a dirt pen to make sure he wasn't sore. He kept stopping at the gate every time they went by so she tried pushing him past on the 3rd lap and he piled her! She landed flat on her back, knocking the wind out of her and she could hardly move. It took my sister quite some time to get her up and to the car. My mom is EXTREMELY claustrophobic so she would not let my sister call an ambulance which she should have done whether my mom liked it or not. Anyway she went to a small town hospital nearby and all xrays came back clear but the pain in her back is almost unbearable, she goes for a cat-scan this morning.
I feel absolutely horrible, I never should have suggested she try this horse out but the ad sounded like the perfect fit. I am just praying that its major muscle bruising and she will be up and at it in a couple days.
Now the other issue, this horse is still listed on facebook and the girl posted the ad back to the top this morning and still listing him as "well broke and suited for a confident beginner/intermediate level rider"! I'm not gonna lie I want to go chew her a new one and tell her its false advertising BUT being a breeder and my husband has sold dozens of horses in his life, I know that horses are unpredictable especially with new riders. Do I report her ad or just leave it and hope no one else gets hurt?

That is a tough one not being there to see what happened and not knowing the horse, hard to say if it was a one time deal or not. I don't know what I'd do in that situation. |

| So sorry to hear about your mom! Did the owner offer any explanation or condolences when it happened? Did she mention if the horse had ever done that? Did the owner looked shocked?
I would probably private message her and tell her that you don't believe it is a beginner horse and encourage her to be truthful about what the horse did to your mom.
Trust me, I understand freak things happen but it sounds like the horse could have had a attitude problem. This happened with a POA some friends of mine bought. He came beginner safe and child broke. They had a trial thankfully, because the first ride the girl had on him he unleashed into a buck from a walk. No warning signs at all! She also re-posted this horse as child safe and had been hauled tons of places to shows and such. |

Location: Florida.. | praying for your mom.. it sounds like he did well in trails and at first.. then maybe gate issues.. push issues.. Id tell the owner she needs to make sure she tells the buyers this.. I always have owner ride horse first to see any issues.. .. if something goes wrong it can be anything.. rider error, horse issues, or one time thing.. hard to say.. not owners fault imo if horse did well at first then this happened.. she should be honest about this incident though to perspective buyers..but it could be any reason horse did it if its not known to do this.. |

My sister was with her and she said the the lady was weird, all she kept saying was "well my ex boyfriend used to ride him all the time and he wasn't as good of rider as you and he never did anything like that with him" which makes me think the horse spoiled and has a mind of his own and has been getting away with doing whatever the heck he wants! Other then that I guess the lady didn't really say much.
The moderator on the facebook page lives just down the road from me and I am tempted to send him a message and see what his thoughts are on the ladys ad and leave it in his hands whether the ad remains up or not. |

I think this is a appropriate action. The owner's reaction is a bit strange. Prayers for you and your mom. I hope she finds the perfect confidence building horse!! |
