wimpyb - 2014-08-28 9:22 PM So, he's a saddlemaker and can't fit saddles? confusing. If someone wants to build a house he should be qualified to do it properly. Not being snarky, just think he should be able to figure it out!
He can but he's only here 3 weeks out of the year.
?  sorry this just doesnt make sense. a saddle should last a whole lot longer than 2 years. I would find a saddle fitter or talk woth wimpyb. someone that does this for a living and knows. Performance saddle company is great help from just different pictures and talking with you. but i would try your friends saddle that is running faster times with your horse even if the saddle is to big for you.  it is more about how it firts your horse

There is just something seriously wrong with this whole scenario????? A saddle MAKER should be able to "fit" a saddle tree to the horse.....period.....if he can't... change saddle makers! I agree with SG, if your friend's saddle fits the horse, try it....you can ALWAYS get the same tree with a smaller seat.

I borrowed one of Meleta's saddles that was an inch bigger than what I use and my horse ran better than he has ever, he just rode better than he ever has. I could have cared less if the thing was bright pink, or a brand I didn't know, I ordered one. That horse does me no good if I can't ride him...and the ground gets harder the older I get.

TessBelle - 2014-08-29 2:55 PM Gonna try to add pics agin. I think I figured it out.
Too wide in the gullet and therefore putting way too much pressure on his shoulders.   Can't tell about the rest of it but this is what is causing the back to poke up as well. This saddle simply doesn't fit.  Also the placement of the rigging is too far forward which makes it impossible to get the tree/saddle where it should be

Thank you! That's what I wanted to know. He can get any tree I want for the most part. I just needed somewhere to start. But for those of you complaining about the brand, I just had my Circle Y fixed for the 3rd and last time. First time my horn completely broke(my fault) but the 2nd time the tree was cracked so had a local guy replace it with another Circle Y tree. The 3rd time the tree broke agin this time I put a different brand tree in it and now it don't ride the same so it's just sitting in my barn. Called Circle Y to see what they said and they informed me that they didn't make that saddle. It has the brand, a serial number, and I still have the receipt for where I gave over $1000 for it from them but they didn't make it lol. That's someone who won't stand behind there work.
