Elite Veteran Posts: 1032 Location: IL	Okay, I'm kind of scared to ask but, I was wondering if anybody would be willing to give me a video critique? This is me loping my OTTB mare back in July, the one thats really ratey and always ready to turn, through the barrels. It was warmer the day the video was taken so she was being kind of lazy but I'd like to hear some opinions or suggestions. It's been raining here so much (we got 6 inches last night) that I haven't been able to ride through most of August. I'm taking it slow with her and wont add any speed until we have things down pat loping. She's hard to get past the barrels at times as she's very sensitive to seat and leg cues. This is the reason why we've been stuck where we are for quite some time. I know some people suggested I ride squares around the barrels with her, which I plan to do, as soon as the ground dries up here. Expert Posts: 2685	I think you looked good. I really like how she is calm and seems responsive. I noticed you said she was ratey but you are speaking to the mare and asking her to rate a few stride before the barrels. That is causing her to be more ratey and may cause problems. I think you need to move your rate point up at the first and/or have her go by it 1 more stride towards the fence. Your second looked really good. She went by a touch but he looks like a big, long strides horse so that is completely understandable. She looked like she responded to you really well. You also spoke what I feel is too soon at the 3rd causing her to not get by it very far which may cause her to step off coming out once you add speed. Basically I would move your rate point up closer to the barrels and keep her straighter longer. You may have to have your rate points where they are currently for a run but at a lope she is obviously very sensitive to you. You both look awesome. Great job!
