I have severely burnt the roof of my mouth.   It is a week today. most of it has healed but I still have one area that is VERY tender, raw and it still has blisters.  I have tried mouth wash, then was told not to because of the alcohol in it.  I have done warm salt water til I am fed up with it. I have now been using peroxide which helps take the pain from a 9 to a 7 until it wears off. To finally be able to eat I have started using a numbing agent on it for tooth and gum soreness.  Should I be concerned or do these things just take time? Also anyone got any more ideas I can try?  Not looking forward to the holiday weekend feeling like this.

Viscous lidocaine. The pharmacy may sell it OTC. If not, the Cloraseptics have some numbing medicine in them.

Oh, I wouldn't be too concerned, unless it get's infected, you start running a fever, etc. I think it's just going to take time to heal.

Thanks for the suggestions and the positive thoughts.  I need to hear it takes time because at the moment I seem to be surrounded my people saying it should be healed by now. However it is burnt bad so figure it will take a little longer.  Going to run after work to talk to the pharmacist about that stuff.  Luckily I just came off an antibiotic on Monday from a spider bite so I think that has probably been helping on that end.

If they won't give the viscous lidocaine to swish around in there, try the chloraseptic throat spray. It's going to be similar to the numbing med you're taking now, but it may taste better, help more.....I'd use whichever did best. It's going to heal. It's just going to take time. Hope you feel better soon.

the numbing stuff i got last night seems to be the best at giving me some relief, even the half hour to an hour of relief is a huge reprieve.  I know i have been a grouch all week and I know it is from the pain. Just trying to find something before the weekend when I m with the hubby and friends 24/7.

Lavender Oil or  Helichrysum, perferably Young Living (that's all I use because they are the highest grade.)

I have done that before...it sucks, it's painful to eat ANYTHING, and it does take a long time to heal. I think mine took a month total. It's a 3rd degree burn inside your mouth. If they can't give you the lidocaine you can use the chloraseptic and see if the pharmacy can give you a 2% chlorhexadine gluconate rinse. It will really help with swelling and any possible infections.

eat or drink is painful.  and my tongue seems to be permantly attached to the area. my tongue isnt playing with the area as it is to painful.  thanks for the information i have added it to my list for the pharmacy.  I have no access to natural oils in our town and would like quicker relief than mail order right now.

Try Ibuprofen too. It will help with the inflammation.

On the bright side the mouth is the fasting healing area of a person... on the not so bright side it hurts like heck until it gets better.. Praying you get healed up fast.
