I hope that made any sense to you guys. LOL.. To elaborate on this, I have a friend who talked to Charon and she explained that the lowest point of the tree is slightly more forward than other trees. The result is your legs and seat feel just like they do when you ride bareback. When I heard that I thought yes, that is exaclty what it feels like to me, the saddle feels like it wraps around your horse and so your legs wrap around the horse too. I am a 3D rider and I have more balance and little or no bouncing around. I just might move up to the 2D, lol.

I have a Caldwell andΒ I agree with the above statements. Unfortunately my horse out grewΒ my Pro Racer and I bought a treeless to get me through and if I ever get him back in shape, I will probably try the Performance saddles. Many CaldwellΒ saddle lovers have gone over to them andΒ they all rave about them.Β
I have a Performance Saddle and I love it feels just like a Caldwell to me! The customer service is great to! |

I was not impressed with the H3/PSC saddles. A local friend is a dealer for them, so I went over to his place to check them out. They have the same "look" as a Caldwell, but I did not feel like they compare to the Caldwell in terms of fit, how they ride, leather quality. Not especially since their base price is $2800 & Caldwell's is $3150. I would rather spring the extra $350 for the real deal.
Now I know some people love them and that's great...but they are not for me. |

Hard to find used. What I did as far as trees was put a post on here actually about 6 years ago to see if I could meet up with some BB's at the BBR finals and try their trees to see which one I needed. Then the search was on. Just be careful, it is an addiction to which there is no cure. I believe in fit first for my horse and their trees are not the cookie cutter south texas trees that 90% of saddle makers use. Then add on the buttery leather and the advanced fit of rider position---- OMG!! |

THIS! You need to be able to try some different tree sizes. If you are close to NE/E Texas you are welcome to try any of mine. And some do come up from time to time on here but they get sold quickly. The other good thing about them is that they hold their value. |

Location: somewhere in the south | Well, my boy is wide in the wither area so I would have to have something that fit wide, mutton type horses. I do not have a very good seat so the sticky elk sounds good!! Anywhere I can read up on what the different types fit??? |

| Sounds like my 2. Talked to Charon for about an hour and she recommended the Ultra rocket or Maxed Out. |

Location: Oklahoma | Those of you who have custom ordered one: What % did you have to put down to start your order? Or was it 100%? My gelding still has some atrophy to "fix" that we are working on with a Crown C, but it's always been a dream of mine to have a Caldwell.... maybe if I start saving up now and can get him fitted at the BBR finals in April I can get my hands on one! |

| I think Caldwells and PSC's are both nice.
However, I have never been treated so poorly or gotten worse customer service than when I tried to design/purchase a custom Caldwell. Honestly, the most awful buying experience of my life...
On the contrary, they were lovely as can be at PSC and I love my saddle. Plan on ordering another shortly. |

The price of the H3 USED to be reasonable. I think the first year they started you could get a base saddle for $1800 and then WHAM they skyrocketed the prices.and within a year or so added $1000 onto that base price. I know one dealer that no longer carries them partially because of that. |

After riding in my Caldwell, I dont think any other saddle could compare to it. I love it, some day I will get another one to have for my other gelding if I get to riding like I used to. |

I am ordering my 3rd custom from them and it seems like everytime they have asked for $500. I think.... I traded a TG for my new Rocket so I, obviously, did not have to put anything down.
