I ran at a rodeo Sunday night and I felt my horse make a funny move on the first barrel, I tried to check him up but he fought me so I let him run.  He made a beautiful rest of the run, but was three legged when we came out of the pen.  It's his front right lower leg that was swollen just above the fetlock joint on the inside of the leg.  Today, he is still lame, not as bad though, the swelling is almost gone, and there never was any heat.  My vet is out until monday.  I have been cold hosing it, poulticing and wrapping, and keeping him in a stall.  I am also buying ice wraps tonight.  Do I wait for my vet on Monday since he is improving or should I go to another?  I've tried most of the vets around and really only trust mine.

Does anyone have any idea what he could have done? I was thinking something with the suspensory or sesamoid.  Ideas??
