Was told by a Justin rep that a discontinued style should be no problem to order - so did just that using the correct number and was told no problem, probably would be at most 12 weeks. Well that was back in March and I have  talked to the store rep a few times over the last few months. She has called Justin and I have heard a number of reasons - none of which makes sense to me since I could have been somewhat flexible on material/color.  I actually talked to someone from Justin itself last month  and at that point they told me it could be 120 days from when first ordered. Now reached out again today and the story has changed and they are saying another 6 to 7  weeks! Needless to say I am not happy at all.  Just wondering if anyone has ever done this and how it went - cause it isn't going very well for me!

I work in a western store...
I would say a MINIMUM of 120 days from date the order was placed.  It really depends on how many orders are in front of yours, and if they have access to the leather-sometimes there is leftover leather from when it was in the line, and sometimes they have to aquire it.  While your sales rep could talk to Justin about current available leathers, and look up similar styles for you to choose from, once the order is placed for that particular style number, Justin isn't going to say, "Oh, this leather is only a shade off, let's use it."  They are going to wait for the exact leather to fulfill the order.
Sometimes the leather availability really is out of their hands.  I've ordered custom boots from another company and was told 120 days.  When the customer called to check on them around that time, I called to see what the deal was.  They were having trouble getting the leather and told me it could be another 120 days.  She got a refund.

I would think if you are wanting your deposit back, they should give it to you since the date you were originally promised has passed.  They should at the least give you a credit towards a different pair.
And just in case they say something about refunding you, just know that Justin doesn't send an invoice until the order is fulfilled.  So unless your boots are on the UPS truck, they haven't charged the store anything :)

Good luck and I hope you have some boots soon!!

Just to add:
Justin is typically a very easy company for us to deal with.  We don't normally have any issues with them.

Thanks for the knowledge! I  just always loved the women's ropers they used to make made with smooth ostrich bottom (or even not smooth), or elk or deerskin.  They still make it in mans size and I wanted it made in a woman's size.  I had to laugh when they told me that it's things like the stiching that are holding it up.. since the ropers are really very plain. I think what really bugs me is that I have 2 old pairs that have been patched as much as then can be patched. I keep thinking I have to just suck it up and buy a different boot and deal with it, but each time I talked to the store (before today) I was told they didn't think it would be that much longer, were trying to put a rush on it, yadda yadda. And of course the other boots I have tried - i really don't like as much. Guess I am just pouting - but it sure seems like getting something 'simple' is often very difficult.

Hmm, I would think as long as the mens boot is still available, it wouldn't be a big deal.  Which is what your sales person told you.  I know sometimes we're simply at the mercy of the company in question.  And it's not that they're untruthful, but I think small orders like that can get lost in translation every now and then.  And often after I place an order that's gonna be 90-120 days out, I don't think about it again until you call to check on it.  Then if there's an issue I feel bad that you've already waited that long.  But 9 times out of 10, the boot will show up when it's supposed to.  If it's a roper you want, I'd wait it out if you can, because (as you know) they are gone as of right now(round toe is predicted to make a comeback soon).  The fact that they DO have the leather is a good sign and hopefully it won't be long before your boots come in.

I hope you are right.. it is amazing as I talk to friends the number of them don't like their boots. They can't feel their stirrups cause of thick soles, or the square toes are really wide with the way they are leaving the leather with the outside double stitching etc. I really wish they would make the roper with the foot and sole and heel the way it is and 'pretty up' the top. And go back to offering some with the softer leathers then what the standard roper Justin makes now. There was a reason why for years so many people who competed in Rodeo rode in the Justin Ropers!

Well finally got the boots from Justin.  But they were different since they stiched the sole like they are the square front instead of a round roper - so the sole sticks out wider.  My only guess is that it must be cheaper for them to be stiched this way. Oh well .. I guess it as close as I am going to get and since they were ordered in March and it took till Sept to get them, sure not sending them back.
