I bought a horse out of Texas who is built like a Sherman tank, ropes, ranch works, laid back and moves beautifully. They were selling as grade, but I insisted there had to be papers on him, he was just too good looking, there is a registration and the papers were at the ranch HQ 200 miles away. I found out after I bought him he goes back to impressive 3 times. After my initial heart attack, I called AQHA and confirmed he was registered and is HYPP N/N. I tell you what, he is damn nice.
I find the lack of knowledge astounding. For example; I had a registered Thoroughbred mare that had a Stud named Impressive on her bloodline, COMPLETELY unrelated to AQHA Impressive. The lady said she was leery based off of a name and when she said that, I refused her a sale at ANY price, for ANY horse. Back to AQHA, if the horse is N/N it is a NORMAL horse and does NOT carry the gene. Some folks are just not that sharp.

I agree, the whole name of Impressive runs everyone off.  Some people don't even realize N/N means they don't have it and can get it...LOL

One of the best horses Ive ever owned was Impressive bred.
People tend to be overreactive in my opinion.
That is what the test is for and if its a gelding, they test negative, it is no big deal.

What amazes me still is that people see a HALTER horse only. He was line bred Three Bars.... Which meant performance and run.

So how did you find out that he was Reg, when you were told he was a grade gelding?  And to have it confirmed that he is? Just wondering, have someone that thinks their horse is Reg too but cant find papers on her, so just wondering how you did all this so I can pass the info along,

You couldn't pay me to take a Treasured or Treasured Too or double-bred Hancock horse but I could fill a barn with Impressive get.
