Insurance after colic

I have a mare that just had a scary incident with colic with no surgery done. I was going to put her back on insurance but am wondering if it would be worth it since most insurance companies would not cover colic or mortality if it was caused by colic. Are there any insurance companies out there that would cover after colic? Im wondering now if it would even be worth it if they don't cover colic incidences.

I had a mare colic. Insurance was great until the renewal. 12 month pre-ex, I understand that, but the insurance company keep the 12 month pre-ex on the policy until I cancelled it 3 years later. They will also put in a clause that stated anything that "could" be related to colic surgery not covered.

I dont know if this will help you or not but... we had ours insured for mortality with 3500 towards colic surg.. She coliced and had surgery in september and they covered 3500... Then she coliced again and had to have surgery again in october. that wasout out of pocket but we still had to report it. Lucky us, november was when we renew so you can imagine how much they wanted to recover this horse.. NOT ha.. They dropped her for a year but if she went a year with no colics were willing to renew and i will even get mortality if she dies of colic... So i cant imagine a horse with two surgeries being able to get recovered and a company not covering yours... This sounds bad but I really dont see why you would be to disclose that since it was not surgical... they dont ask for vet records if the horse is being insured for under either 50k or 100k i cant remember.. We use wilkins.. But she had been on there insurance for 4 years and never had a problem and we have 4 insured with them and had never made a claim... But call roger at wilkins and just explain your situation "theoretically"
