| So starting at the top in the last 30 days:
1. My child (main mare) hit her LF cannon/splint bone with her RF hoof trotting. Diagnosed swollen "covering of the bone" (I don't remember what it's called- starts with a S) that was applying a moderate amount of pressure on her suspensory. Used cold hosing, bute, standing wraps, Ice Tight, BOT quick wraps, stalled 24/7.
2. Found out one of my mares is moderately navicular with a lesion on her navicular bone in RF. Used THE NitrOxide, Previcox, PHT bells and corrective trimming (soon to be shoeing).
3. Navicular mare came up with an awful reaction on a Thursday on her neck that could have possibly been from an injection of Pentosan Gold on Monday or a sting of some sort. Treated with dex IV (day of), Banimine (day of), bute (week to follow), cold hosing and Uniprim (when we were at day 5 with still a large, warm swelling). Completely healed about day 10.
4. My child (main mare) after 3 weeks in a stall and is almost allowed to go to a small outdoor pen kicked a concrete wall. Swollen RH leg. Cold hosed, bute, standing wrap. Gone in 4 days (thank the good Lord above).
5. 2yo filly decides to go over my chest high round bale feeder onto what is left of a round bale and tries to jump over the (thick horse wire with 4" squares) fence that it is up against. Goes over a T- post. Has a palm- sized laceration on her belly and a moderate cut on the inside of her stifle. Thank the good Lord above she did not harpoon herself and just got a bad cut. Flushed with sterile betadine/ saline, gave banimine, put on daily bute and antibiotics, bandaged her up- put her in PIPE stall.
Can I be done playing dr? Lol. I only have 1 horse left that hasn't gotten hurt (knock on wood!) and she is doing really awesome! | |
