Location: Running my kids somewhere. | After a little more than a year of lay up and testing I found out that I have at least one disk in my lower back gone from disk degeneration disease. I had one disk in my neck fixed 4 years ago. I was told no surgery (ok I get that). Here are your pain meds to live on. (ok, I don't think so) There is a new drug that is not approved yet; maybe in a year or two; that would work for you. We will have to wait and see. (I really don't think so) Mean while I can't function and have extreme pain. Not to mention anything I did in the past is not an option anymore. Has anyone been through this? What works, does not work, could help me get relief or some of my life back? What I was told today will not work for me. I am hoping the next appointment will have a better option. Meanwhile what a vacation my horses have had. Thank you for your inputs. |

Location: Bandera, TX | I would agree on another doctor. A friend's wife has had back issues for years... She was not able to function... Finally ended up at a different doctor and she found out that she was treated wrong. They did surgery and while recovery is very lengthy she is expected to be much better... |

| I would look into alternative therapy/medicine. However, I have different problems that allopathic medicine has not helped. I just started googling and reading to find what might help my problems. Prayers you get find help |

| I was told the same thing about my back 3 or 4 doctors later had one bad disc. They fused it after 4 months came back hard. In fact i woke up feeling better in hospital. Back took bone from my hip and that was more painful thenback surgery. I was in thengrocery store one week later. Dont let a doctor limit you. They can be selfless bastar**s. The same thing happened when my knees started grinding and hurting had to go,to,3 different docs until one listened to me, and looked first thing he said lets us do some bloodwork came back i have rheumatoid arthritis. |

Location: Pacific Northwest | Probably not what you want to hear but my grandma's neck and back is pretty much made up entirely of screws and metal. And thats not even an exaggeration, they've had to replace almost every disk. None of it helped, she is still in extreme pain. She has pain killers but I dont think they work.
I would find another a doctor.

Location: Running my kids somewhere. | I have an appointment with my neurologist next week to see what she reads on the MRI. She is the one who found the first disk and sent me to the surgeon. I understand that they don't want to rush into surgery but I am not open to living on pain meds and waiting years. If surgery looks like a positive option I am open it to. I have said from the beginning I wanted the pain to go away. I guess I should have told him that masking or hiding it doesn't count. Thank you for everyones inputs. |

You can fill out the request online. The trick is to keep calling and asking is there any cancellations after you get your inital appt time |
