 Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | This is my fourth year qualifying for the Interstates Rodeo Association Finals in Denison, Iowa, and I've never had a horse who worked well and was fast enough to place up here in the 12/13 second arena. UNTIL NOW. :)

Clifford won almost all my rodeo money this year, so I stuck with my theory of "dance with the one who brought you" and ran him last night in round 1. He's a bit of a fruit loop so I worried about how he'd handle the tiny tiny pattern and the noise of a Finals, but he did really well I thought. We were out of the money by a few tenths but we made a clean run and I know some things I can clean up for tonight. Best of all, we were last in our set of 5 last night, but we're 2nd and 1st the next two rounds so the ground should be a little better. At least it shouldn't be as deep and powdery.
I told his former owners before the rodeo that he could win the round or he could completely run off in a panic so I had no idea what to expect. He was actually really calm going up to the arena and I felt like we got a good start to our run. I'm so excited that I might finally have a horse who can place up here! |

Location: Kansas | Thanks! I am anxious to get out there and see exactly where we ended up in the round and how many people hit barrels so I can have an idea of what our chances are in the average if we can make two more clean runs. He came out of the arena kind of like "that's all? We're done? Really??" LOL. |

Location: Kansas | Well that 1st round run was 9th in the round. 12.811 won it and there were 4 12.9s then two 13.0s a 13.2 and my 13.40.
Last night was a disaster because I tried to send him a little straighter to the first and we wound up down by the bucking chutes instead of turning the 1st barrel. Not sure why I have to learn that straighter angle doesn't work on him so many times, but I have Chance up here too so I'm going to run him this afternoon in the third round. He ran here in 2011 and 2012 but has never placed (hit a barrel to place once in 2012 and was less than a tenth out of another round that year), so I don't have super high hopes but at least we should make it around the pattern. |

Thanks! He is fun when we do things right. It was the highlight of the weekend LOL. Cliff & I took a bit of a detour on our way to the first barrel Saturday night, then Chance and I hit the second barrel this afternoon. I think only 5 girls made 3 clean runs, so darn it this would have been the year for me to run Mr. Consistent Joker. Live & learn! LOL. |
