Location: Viola, IL | In May, I brought home a broodmare I had always wanted, from a trainer I had worked for. I didn't get her in foal this year, due to my fault. But, the more and more she's here, I think she should be treated for Ulcers. Let me know what you think, here's her back story;
Was started as a cutter, and started turning her head away from cows, and just not working well. So instead of using her in the futurity, owner turned her out and bred her the following spring. Since then, she has been a broodmare, she is now 12, she was 5 then. She lived in a stall this entire time, where she was only handled to be preg checked, trimmed by the farrier, etc. She stresses very easily, when you take horses away from her, when she goes to a new place, etc. She has a terrible attitude, will pin her ears the entire time you're petting her. (She never tries to bite you, or hurt you, and never leaves you, just pins her ears.)
Because she wasn't in foal, we decided to ride her. She is very cinchy, and very bucky. Trainer said she was very cinchy back then, too. (I want to add, he doesn't believe in special treatment or supplements, so she wasn't given anything.)
Currently, she's not an easy keeper, or an average one at that. She takes a bit of food, and doesn't eat it very quickly. Does not have a shiney coat, etc.
I think I should treat her for ulcers, but keep second guessing myself..

    Location: Viola, IL | She's a super nice mare, and I just can't begin to think that she's meant to be this miserable. I think I'm going to order two weeks and try it, and see where it goes, and if it shows a difference, then I'll continue to treat.

| I love succeed as a daily sup for ulcers - it is wonderful -has done much better for my guy who has been treated with ulcer guard- and I've done draw and other stuff but the succeed did the trick and he just glows and eats all his food and comes looking for it now- use to he could care less-but even on the road he eats | |
