Will be following this...my daughters lab cross was just diagnosed.  I had never heard of it and am now hearing of it more and more.  Her vet told her, only 45% survive passed their first year of diagnosis :(   How bad is your dog?  What are his symptoms?   Prayers for your dog too

Prayers for you and your pup. I know first hand how the internet just makes things worse in your head.  I hope someone here has some actual experiences for you.

I had a mini Shetland sheepdog. Diagnosed at one year old and given a very slim chance to make it another 9 months. He lived to be 14 years old. We didn't give him pretnazone SP?? As it caused him to be extremely itchy. He lost his fur around his eyes and nose, and on his front paws. However he was a happy little dog and lived a full life....

Our Corgii was diagnosed with at when she was about 12.  First symptoms where skin inflamation that would not respond to treatment.  We did use prednisone which finally did work for awhile but eventually brought on a myriad of other problems and side effects. She eventually deveoped fluid filled tumors around her face.  She coded and was revived on the operating table when they were attempting to drain them to alleviate pressure.  At that point we made the decision to put her down because her quality of life and deteriorated past an acceptable point. I wish I could give some positive thoughts but it was a tuff road for out Tazzy that lasted about 10 month from first symptoms until the end.  Still makes me cry 10+ years later.

My JRT female was diagnosed 3 year ago she is I believe 6 or 7 this year. Her's is Discoid Lupus Erythematosus....... her nose is mainly effected with the skin issues. She is extremely sensitive......she is the most loving and sweet dog, but if you touch her paws or pet her tummy or back to much she yelps in pain. :( It is heart breaking!!!! She also has some tummy issues which cause a constant air licking. She has some days that she is super down or rough acting, but she has more good days then bad. The summer and early spring are the worse for her. She LOVES being outside and LOVES laying in the sun, which causes extreme flare ups in her lupus. The worst episode she had was two years ago. She completely became paralyzed from the shoulders back. It was so sad, I thought she had been hit or something. Then the vet gave her some extra vitamin e oil and some other meds and with in two days she was back to normal.

Essential Oils has a product.   You give 1 to 1 1/2 tablet a day.

We had a pit bull/beagle cross that had it.  She suffered with skin problems, trouble regulating her temperature and pain.  She got so bad she didn't recognize my husband when he came home from work and started growling at him.  When she got so bad the vet suggested amputating her poor ravaged ears, we put her to sleep.  She was 11.

mine has no skin issues what so ever, his symptoms are a swollen front ankle and his back foot has for lack of better words gone floppy, like a boat oar.........he still bears full weight on the back foot, it would just sound off when he walked...and he was pretty crippled on the front foot and he couldn't jump at all......so now i would like to get him off the prednasone (sorry if i spelt that wrong) and on to something better for him................metacam does nothing for him.......

My doggie has an autoimmune disorder. But it only affects his toes and skin. His toe nails crack and break and bleed. I hope you find out what is wrong with your doggie and it is manageable
