For all those out there riding two year olds with the goal of heading to 2015 BFA Juvi- Where are ya'lls two year olds at? Loping barrels? How are they riding and about what timeline do you expect them to be on throughout the year? When do you start asking for some speed and when is too soon to be making "runs" on them exhibtioning?

Mine is riding good and loping a nice set, been exhibtioned a hand full of times, and has had about a month off then a month of riding for the past 7 months

This will be my first one to take so just curious kind of when I should ask for what

As for me I will never think that running barrels on a 2 yr old is good.  I don't care how much you want to win the 3 yr old Juvenile.  The horses long term health should be thought out.  Its not far to the horse and its not fair to the breeders when people are out riding them hard when they are too young and they end up crippled at a young age.  Feel free to flame away but I won't be buying or looking at any horses that I know has been running barrels and riding hard when they were 2 yrs old.

Coming three year olds....Molli had one loping a set extremely nice and Kelli took her's around the barrels a few days ago....we started counting our 352 days lol. I love it. My other is in training with Bo Stewart. He's just breaking and putting the bells and whistles on her now. She is headed to LG Pro Classic Sale and he'll just haul her around to see sights a bit before then. I wouldn't push one that age too much myself.
Jessi will be getting a coming three this weekend that has just had a saddle on a handful of times.

My coming 3yo (Be 3 in Feb) is turned out. He was a race colt as a young 2yo. I had hoped to start him under stock saddle this winter, but my pregnancy changed that plan! So... He is turned out until March- Im sending him to a colt starter who does lots of pasture miles and quiet riding on him... By the time the baby is 2 months old, he should be coming along really nice, and ready for me to pick up the reins... and we will see where things go!

He is a bit wooly and out of shape now!

My 2 coming 3yr old stud is currently at liana deweese's getting a better handle since I live in the frozen tundra. He is a solid 15.3 and turns 3 in March. Hoping that with 60-90days he's ready for pattern work.
