Location: Piedmont, OK | I use Farmers for everything. With multiple policies you get bigger discounts. I used to have progressive but your rates start low and increase every 6 months. Its ridiculous. |

It is. However, you can get a decent policy that covers the value or the trailer and everything in it. |

i think only up to $2500 (which probably varies by insurance company).

Probably, but that only helps if you're in an accident, not if it's stolen or your stuff is stolen out of it.
I've been using Equipment Insurance International for several years. They base your rate off the value of your trailer. Mine has been anywhere from $120-$165, depending on value of the trailer. Luckily I've never had to file a claim, so I don't know how their service is in that aspect. |

| I have mine through Equipment Insurance International. It costs $585 year for $50k insured value with $500 deductible. It was a little cheaper through them than putting on my auto policy through Farm Bureau. I have a friend that has hers through Progressive and has had great luck with prior claims. |

| We have had trouble insuring ours. Once the insurance company finds out it is a horse trailer, they won't renew our policy. We finally have ours through Foremost, but it runs $155 a month. I would like to pay $5-10 per month instead though. |

In ND liability for the trailer follows the vehicle, but you need a policy for physical damage. The contents of the trailer; referring to your tack, should be covered under your personal property on your homeowners policy. |

Please dont assume your trailer covered..unless its hooked to your truck. I thought the same thing, til my trailer was unhooked and stolen from Louisville, KY Circuit Finals..thats when i was informed it wasnt covered as it wasnt hooked up. I had to pay my 3 month old trailer off on my own!! never got it back |

Location: Wisconsin | Ours is covered by American Family along with car insurance. And its 360 a year, but can vary so much with all above posts, as we dont all have the same trailers to compare apple to apples. Your cost will vary with the amount the trailer is worth, etc |

Location: Texas, and loving it | Unless you specifically insure your trailer for comp and collision it will not be covered for damages or if stolen. Your vehicle liability covers trailer liability when attached to your vehicle. Most trailer policies are Actual Cash Value policies and will be depreciated in any claim, so make sure the value insured for is high enough. Most companies offer farm equipment insurance. This is usually cheaper than adding to your auto policy. If your trailer has living quarters make sure they insure as a RV unit otherwise the insurance company can deny the claim. It is more expensive but can be worth it. :) |
