Horses are little piggys. If their not eating their grain there is a reason for it. Ulcers/ they wont touch grain. moldy/ they wont touch it . Stinky/ they wont touch it. One of these or all of these is your problem. start over and add a little at a time. I your feeding beet pulp you will be able to mix it in while it si soaking.

she has been a finicky eater literally her entire life. I was going to say since a yearling but pretty much since she was weaned. She is not a food driven horse. Never has been. She has been through the years of my OMG you might have ulcers, OMG you might have a deficiency, OMG you might have TMJ. Each time I was told she is fine, just a spoiled horse.

Try papaya juice.  Mine LOVES it, plus it's supposed to be good for their tummies.  Although he usually just gets it when he has something different in his feed.  He will eat around anything he doesn't like the smell of, so it ends up in the bottom of the bucket as a bunch of powdery ground-up feed.
I put down a about half the feed, then the sup.  I mix it just a little, then pour the papaya juice over it.  Dump the rest of the feed in there.

Also- this does have to be refrigerated.  It will sour if you don't.  I tasted it and it is much sweeter cold anyway.  My guy really loves it.

I have the same issue- in the past I have used Noni on their grain, I think I will need to go back to that- good luck!

depends on the supplement. My mare wouldn't eat forco or amplify but I just started off putting a very tiny amount in her grain and adding a little more every week. I think it took me a month to get up to the dose of forco she was supposed to get.

My horse hates equipride. Even in sweet feed he won't touch it. He gets Triple Crown Complete and I have to add Cocoasoya to it so he will eat the equipride.

Thank you everyone! I will have to try the papaya. I just went to mixing it with water (it's powder) and using a syringe and giving her plain feed. She's not happy but she's eating well AND getting her supplement now lol

Most of my horses will eat anything...if I have to disguise something though I use applesauce or extra molasses. If it's medicine and they HAVE to get it and are refusing to eat the grain, I mix it with water and use a syringe.

Whenever I think a horse might be iffy about something I start out with a very small amount and gradually add it more. But my horses all get soaked beet pulp and alfalfa as their "grain" so anything I feed them in it is pretty well hidden. My mare didn't even notice her antibiotics in hers this morning.

I go to Walmart and buy the cheapest pancake syrup they have. I put about 2 good sized squirts (about 1/4 cup) and mix it up. Works for all of mine. Way cheap.

as far getting them to eat the THE supplements I started with the calming cookies they have the same basic smell. I first bought soft molases horse cookies and would feed a couple of those then slip in a calming cookie they were kinda sticky and hard to spit out onced they got a good bite in. then he got used to them so i could skip the molases cookie and just give the calming cookie. now he will eat the  powder supplement with his feed
