I Don't Brag Posts: 6960	I know that I have seen a post or two on this subject but can't see to come up with the right search parameters. I live in the frozen North country (VERY frozen at the moment). I could use some suggestions on what to put on my indoor arena to keep the dust down....BUT..... it also doubles a giant run in shed for my ponies and on days like today I feed indoors so it cannot be toxic to ingest OR cause any other digestive issues. I have tried Calcium Chloride but it leaves a salt dust all over everything and is eating anything steel, including my panels and hay. I also worry about the constant exposure of their hooves to it. Cannot use Soil Moist as I have already applies salt. It's already cold up here so application in cold temps is almost a must at this point. I spent two hours in 18 degrees trying to water it down by hose and sprayer. Everything is so cold that I had water spraying out of the connection to the hydrant, out of the hose/sprayer connection and dribbling AND spraying out of the hand held sprayer. I ended wet, cold and aggravated. I want to ride in it in winter but by the time I get the dust under control all that I want to do is come in and thaw out! And then it only last precious few days. Now...discuss Suggestions very welcome. I have two coming 4 yr olds that really don't need to wait until spring.

Ima Non Controversial Girl Posts: 4168 Location: where the wind blows	Not sure this is possible being you also use it as a run in. But the arena I ride in regularly we are all required to clean up manure after horses. They keep it picked pretty clean after every ride and they rarely have to water it. They keep it picked pretty clean after every ride and they rarely have to water it. I've heard of a few other reiners that do this too and keep their sand good and dust free. I did not want to clean stalls, hence the giant run in shed. But instead I clean this giant "kitty litter box" twice a day. Unfortunately the "sand" the builder said we would love is very fine and had clay in it. What isn't hard packed is loose, fluffy and fine and hangs suspended in the air if disturbed. A fellow BB PM'd me and suggested I look in to mineral oil, so I have some research to do.

Member Posts: 8	Amway has a product called APSA 80 that is excellent. Must be watered after application, but really keeps dust down & helps reduce compaction as well. You should be able to locate a dealr on-line.
