The mare I run now had it.  I used a laser, every day.  Iced the keg till heat was gone.  Structural build and Painaway as a supplement.  Also did Runners relief.  She is a top 1DHorse and has not had a problem since.  The Structural Build and Painaway is 65.00 each for a 65 day supply of each.  Plus tax and shipping.

I had a mare get this a few years ago. She was very tough and didn't show any lameness one day ankle swelled took her to vet and she was diagnosed. 8 months off, lots of rehab, she just never came back the same. She is now in foal and still doesn't travel right after everything we tried. I really think she had it for a while before she showed any signs. If we had done an MRI I am sure we would have found more damage then just the x-Ray. That's the bad news, the good news I rehabbed a race horse with it and he went on to win a few races the next year.

my mare had it. Off for 2 months. I did some hydro. But mostly left her alone. No problems. She is fine now.

The leg she has it in is slightly turned in. She also is extremely tough andshowed no signs until she came out of the arena lame. 2 minutes later was walking pretty normally. We have been treating secondary pain evidently for about a year. Found it when I finally decided to do a nuclear scan. Hoping there is no unseen damage.

This is what I would do and also find someone who can do regular Accuscope/Myopulse therapy on him
