Location: Illinois | Thank you everyone for all the kind words and prayers. I plan to find whoever did this and make sure that she pays for what she did to this sweet animal. Even in the last stages of life he never stopped being a sweet loving horse. As I sat with him last night he put his head in my lap as I cried and tears fell on his face. He even nickered to me when I walked into the barn for the last time to see him. I was so sure that he would have the strength to pull through but he was just to weak to fight off the infection and the emaciation at the same time. I wish I could have been there with him when he passed but it was almost like he was holding on until I left him to go so I didn't have to see it happen. I know I had only had him for three days but the last 72 hours I have continually stayed by his side and never left, hand fed and watered him and kept him warm. I actually fell asleep next to him yesterday with my hand on his face. The only way to keep him from thrashing around was for me to be right by his head. I never thought I could grow to love him so fast but it happened. I hope he felt that love and died knowing he was loved.

We raised him and own Nonstop Firewater. I'm so sorry you are going through all this. He was a great horse when he was younger! I don't remember him being cold backed! But I lost track of who owned him years ago. Praying he will be ok!
I am so glad you commented. I was hoping to find out some more information about him as I planned to fatten him up and get him back on barrels. I really am not sure if he was actually cold backed or just in pain and needed work. I wish I would have had the chance to see what kind of horse he really was. I'm sure he was a great boy, he was so loving even in sickness. |

Location: stray dump capital of the world | There is a reason he came into your life, though briefly. He deserved to cross the bridge knowing kindness and love from humans. God put him there. I hope you find the person who did this. What a total POS. I would leave no stone unturned in ruining her life. Sending prayers your way. |

Bless your heart. I have tears streaming down my face as I read that. Thank you again for being there for him. |

Location: California | I will never understand how people can do this to an animal. Yes, there is a special place in hell for those people and I for one would love to speed the process up. God bless you for trying to help this horse. If there is anything I can do to help find who did this, please PM me. |

Same here. I lost my most favorite mare this past June and can't get her out of my mind, so it boggles me that people could do such things. I will never, ever understand how one living being could do this to another, especially one that can't do for itself. |

I pray that the horrible person that did this to him never does this again. |

Location: Illinois | We got Slim buried yesterday. He has a spot out behind the barn where he will always be with the other horses. I plan to make a cross for his grave tonight. It was very hard watching him be buried but I know he is finally in his resting place. |
