Christmas Cards I Never Sent
As the rodeo wraps up,
and I load the trailer to head for home,
I think of all the blessings that surround me wherever I roam.
There's beauty in this life we live in,
and it's not just about the big lights and the fame,
nor is it about the announcers in the arena, waiting to call your name.
There's a much greater presence, that reigns from up above, and he has truly blessed this rodeo family ,
with good fortune and love.
Rodeo, ....you can't help but love it ,
it gets in your blood, passed down for generations, that so many have grown to love.
We can't ever forget all those that have come before,
Rodeo greats, who have found their place, that's for sure.
As we load up our possessions, our tack and our gear, remember those families who are less fortunate at this holy time of year. Treasure those people who whose lives you've touched, through your career,
all those who have watched you, prayed, and cheered.
We all celebrate differently,
as some will cry,
and some will never shed a tear.
When you gather with family,
as the holidays are soon upon us,
let's remember to not get caught up in all the fuss.
Santa, shopping, fudge, presents under the tree,
Let us reflect more upon others,
and less about
"me".
Giving thanks to what's truly important ....
your family, and your good friends.
So I'm just going to say it,
make it very clear,
tell them you love them,
it's what they need to hear.
So, to my extended Rodeo family,
I think it's time,
When better than December,
To share this holiday rhyme.
