To furniture? I've been wanting to pick up a few pieces of furniture so I can start doing some projects. But I have no idea where to begin with the antique look....I'm obviously not very crafty. I heard pennies in vinegar....but when i googled it, the stain was very light.

I've started off with a darker piece of wood whether I have to paint or stain it that way or it comes that way, then I paint on turquoise paint and wipe with a rag to get the look I want. I just re-did a footstool my great uncle made for my Grandma in 1932 and I did the legs in the turquoise that I think you're referring to.

can you buy turquoise stain? And how do you do the rag trick? I'm going to pull some of the pictures off pinterest, I also found a super cute bed frame made out of pallets I would love to build and paint myself.

I just used turquoise paint. From the looks of the pictures you posted thats paint. Get a sanding block and sand off some of the turquoise paint. Put some clear poly over top and you'll get that look. I've also taken any color of stain
(brown colors
) and wipe over the piece and you get the dirty antique look. The best thing to do is take some wood and play with it before you go to work on the furniture. The rag isn't a trick - its just wiping off some of the paint. Very simple.

Paint it and then when it's DRY, go over random spots with sandpaper. That will give you the worn look. There isn't a turquoise stain
(that I know of
), you'll have to get paint. They sell small cans for like $5 at Home Depot or Lowes.
