Just an FYI to everyone.  We were recently on the road headed to a show, when our rear passenger side tire lost all of it's tread!  We were on our way to Nebraska for the barrelbash.  All of a sudden there was an explosion.  My husband was driving, and both of my daughers were in the back seat.  We pulled over and were confused because it didn't feel like we had a flat tire.  I jumped out and saw all the tread had come off the rear wheel, tire didn't even loose air.  It did a bunch of damage to the quarter panel of our F350.  It also sent debris into the horse trailer which put a hole in our spare tire.  We put the spare on from the truck and got to DesMoines, IA.  We ended having to buy 4 new tires and a spare tire for the trailer. The tire place told us that the BF Goodrich tires we had where on a recall list.  I'm so angry right now, It did over $2000 worth of damage, and you know BF Goodrich isn't going to pay for any of this.  I already contacted them to start a claim, but I have a feeling I know how this is going to go...  Just wanted to update anyone with these tires.  It's going to cause a huge accident!!  My tire size is 275 65 r20  and they are Rugged Terrrain T/A

This is why I only buy Nitto Grapplers for my truck. Sorry for your luck!

There was a recall of about 70,000 BF Goodrich tires. All light truck tires. I just happened to catch it on the news the day after I had a blow out. The thing that really hacks me off is that I took my truck back to the tire store 3 times because I could tell that there was something wrong with the tires. they kept telling me they were ok. Two years later I had the blow out.

There is a number on the tire that tells when the tire was made. I will try to find the recall on the internet again and send you a link.

Here you go. The manufacture date is in the DOT number. Google how to read the DOT Number to figure out what date your tires were manufactured and if they are within the dates of the recall.

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfg-nation/article-detail.page?DCRNa...

When mine blew out it did about $1200 in damages to my truck. I turned the recall information over to State Farm Ins.

Same thing happen to us luckily my husband was driving the truck. The blow out was on the truck and the tire hit the trailer sending it in the other line. Thank God no one was coming or it would have been bad. we only got new tires for the truck. But they will not fix my truck. Its was about 2500.00 to fix it.

Thanks,  I have my insurance involved too.  I just don't think our rates should go up for a claim that is not our fault.  The tires are getting inspected today by a BF Goodrich dealer.  I'm sure it will not work in our favor.

Must be one of the reasons my hubby has always called them "good for a year" tires.  What a bunch of crap!  Glad no one was hurt and sorry you're having to deal with this....

I've noticed the one way to really get a company to do what you want.....Blast the heck out of them on their facebook page LOL. I'd take a picture of the damage, then explain your story right on their facebook wall. Then share the heck out of it!!!

Since this is NOT a collision, your rates should not be affected. It is comprehensive like a rock hitting your windshield. You learn all kinds of things about insurance when you have to teach it. The only class in school where you could learn something that you actually need in life and they cut it out. Sad. Sorry off topic, just had to have my rant.

The last 4 digits of the DOT # will tell you the week and year the tires were manufactured.  Make sure you didn't get old tires.

The bfg came on the truck. At that time i had a 3h with a big shortwall, going to a quarter horse show, if that tells you haow long ago before nbha. I was driving herd something go bang tread came off that tire and tore a brake line off tore my truck up, luckey i pulled in autoparts place and we fix truck, went on 5 tires. And when i got home all the rear tires left the tread was bubled up. I did not replace then with same. To this day i wil not sel those tires unless someone ask for them. I bet if you google problems with bfg tires you will not be alone.

The recall is for tires manufactured on certain dates. The number is like the week of the year as in the 23rd week of the year not a date. It has been awhile since I needed it.

When I wrecked our dually fender, it was considered collision. It's not an act of nature.

If you file a claim with BF Goodrich, not your insurance THEY ARE replacing the tires and paying for damage to vehicles if the tires are on the recall list. When you call the claim number they will tell you what you need to do to get the problem fixed.

I brought the tires into a BF Goodrich dealer last night. They had to inspect the tire. The service guy there said he had never seen so much damage caused by a tire. The service guy called me this morning and stated that since I have insurance involved BF Goodrich said they aren't paying for anything. I'm so tired of people not taking responsibilty for there products!! They should be liable for everything that happened! Atleast they could pay for the replacement tires we had to purchase.

State Farm paid to have my truck repaired. I gave the information to State Farm so that they could get some of the cost of repairs from BF Goodrich. I had the tires replaced the day of the blow out and did not find out about the recall until the tires had been replaced.

My deductibe was $50 so State Farm said it was Comprehensive. I did not hit any thing. the tire shredding and flopping around took the side off my truck. I have a good agent.

The recall letter that Goodyear printed out showed us that the recall took effect 8-10-2015.  I never got a letter stating our tires were under a recall and never heard anything about it until this happened.
