I dream almost every night, and I am a restless sleeper. I feel the more I dream, the worse sleep I get.

maybe you sleep better than you think. i will lay awake for 4 hours and get nothing. sometimes it is so bad I don't care how many times I wake up as long as i go back to sleep it is a good night. even a nightmare night is a good night for me

Freud used to interpret drams as being content you had to suppress during your waking life and got to live and act out during sleep. However, science and psychology has proven that dreams are nothing more than random firings of neurons during REM sleep, the first stage of sleep. Its the only time you dream of your five stages. Each complete sleep cycle is about90 minutes. You spend most of your time in REM and thus its the most important stage. If sleep deprived you will spend more time in REM than the other stages, therefore you dream more. Everyone dreams weather you remember it or not. Its impossible NOT to dream. One theory suggests that dreaming is a way for your Hippocampus to decide what sensory information is worth storing or letting go. You can train yourself to Lucid dream. (Know your dreaming and take part in the dream). Takes a little practice but is not very difficult. If your really interested in thr Freudian method, www.dreams.com is a site where you plug in content and it will tell you what it means according to him.

I always wonder about this too. I never have good dreams, just wild nightmares about snakes, ghosts, murder, and a nudist colony.

lucid dreaming is when you are going along and enjoying the dream and then it takes a wrong turn.  Now a nightmare, but you are lucid enough to say this is just a dream, I will change this or I will wake up.  And you do.

Are you going to tell us the dream?

Did your teeth start falling out?
Did you go to high school naked?
Did you find out you have a test and can't find the classroom or didn't study?
Was someone chasing you and you thought you would die?  Did you fall from something?
Was it a funny dream?
Were you trying to scream, but were unable to make a sound?
