Feet changes from summer to winter having HECK!

I have posted about my 3 year olds tender feet once before. I bought him off the track in Sept. He was in a bedded moist stall at the track for a year. Got him home to my place and it was hot and dry. He went tender. Used durasole and got him sound! For the last month we have had lots of rain and I think his front feet soaked it all up! My farrier only uses a rasp NO NIPPERS because we want to leave the sole alone. Last two times he was shod he never went sore. First time being done after the rain and he has been tender for almost a week! Does a lot better on soft arena dirt and grass. But tender on hard surfaces. Don't want to use pads and create soft feet. Anyone have ideas?

I would be questioning thrush, or septic laminitis.
Septic laminitis can occur in wet conditions the water and bacteria travels up the lamania causing infection, inflammation of the lamania and if not treated can cause founder. I had this occur and horse had similar symptoms worked sound on soft, lame on hard ground.
Thrush can be also the cause, sometimes you don't visually see or smell as the thrush has developed under the frog. I had this occur once vet had to use a chemical burn on the frog to kill the thrush, horse was sound in a week.
I would be asking the farrier to hoof test where the horse is sore then consult with a vet and get his thoughts, or take the horse in for an exam including xrays of the foot

Farrier came out few minutes ago. He is certain it's just thin soft soles but going to make appointment to have X-rays just to be certain. Probably have to put pads on in winter and regular shoes summer

Vet just left. Xrays showed extremely thin soles. average 5mm. Some parts of the foot as low as 3mm. Needs a pad , probably for the next 3 shoeing then try rim pads.
