Watery, yellow nasal discharge..Causes?

Just brought home a new project horse four days ago, and today I noticed she had a slight watery/yellowish discharge coming from her left nostril.
She seems fine in every other way, but then again she is brand new to me and I don't know her usual patterns. She will be going to the vet next week for a general exam, but I was wondering if maybe she needs to go sooner. I am not use to seeing colored discharge and it makes me slightly worried. Thoughts/experiences?

Does she have a temperature? I would at least call the vet since she has just recently traveled to a new barn. I would want to make sure it's not shipping fever.

Yellow discharge means bacterial infection. Call your vet.

I saw this before and am interested on the findings. One of my mares had a thin watery discharge out of one nostril. It looks like blood serum rather than snot such as you would see with shipping fever, respiratory infection cold etc. It burned the crap out of her nostril. Vet told me that when one nostril is involved, he thinks guttural pouch infection. It seemed to clear up then a few days later the other nosttril started up with the same thing. Her poor nostril is crusty and cracked.
Have had horses for over 40 years and have seen noting like it.
(Her temp was normal at 100 degrees
).

I'd definitely call your vet - especially since it's one nostril. Have had a couple friends horses die from guttural pouch. Definitely NOT something you want to mess with.

call your vet ASAP.
be cautious of touching her, then others, or mixing her within the group. Yellow discharge means she's got something festering inside her.

My mare had a guttural pouch infection and my vet told me to tie her head up high for a bit and then feed her on the ground. He said if the draining stopped while her head was up and then started again when she dropped it, it was most likely a guttural pouch infection. That is what it ended up being and of course I had her treated by the vet, but I found it really interesting doing the tie test.
