What age would you start giving senior feed to your horses?

I never bothered with it until they actually start needing it, aren't keeping the condition I desire. I feed ADM SeniorGLO, Forco and THE Muscle Mass with joint & arthritis and senior blends added. This is for a really really old pony that my 2yr old son rides the heck out of. My dad is using the Purina Senior to his old mare that is 33 now and has a hard time keeping weight. He should have started her on it long before he did. She has few teeth, but is doing well.

My geldings are 11-13, and I am thinking about starting a senior feed mix.

Its never too early to feed senior feed. If you are even thinking about it, then it is probably time to start. I have horses of all ages on it. From a six year old to a thirty year old.

do your research ... not all are same quality.. and some are low fat and othrs higher fat.. so if hard keeper or worked you may want high fat.. triple crown is what i used and its high fat.. and adm is as well..
Purina is low fat..etc

We feed Allegra Senior to all of our horses, mixed with some whole oats. My hard keeper
(13 year old, very high maintenance
) gets 2 scoops whole oats and 1 scoop senior night and morning. The others just get one scoop each in the evenings.
