I have been to 2. I thought it was good for people with riding errors. I don't feel it fixes major issues. We got 8ish hours of saddle time per day (6 day clinics). They have a person at each barrel while you are going through that are constantly coaching. I loved that. Not having time to do it wrong. I had a blast. I feel like it seasons younger horses and either makes hot horses sky-high or mellows them out since they realize after day 1 they aren't going anywhere lol. It was a big confidence boost and a big motivator to try and try. I would definitely go back UNLESS I had a major pattern issue. I took a mare that occasionally blew the 1st barrel that vets couldn't find anything on and I did learn more about how to ride her to fit her but I didn't fix my issue.

I really enjoyed the clinic. I feel like it's better suited for beginners or people that don't have major problems. We were in the saddle a lot, and I had a great time, would definitely go again if I had a new horse.

I went to the Fall Clinic. I think the last one I attended was about 1974. I am not a beginner. I enjoyed every minute. For years I was the one to beat but after not riding and a riding accident I lost my confidence. I am terrible. My first run was so bad that I thought I was going to have a panic attack before they reviewed my video. Hey, it looked way better than it felt. I know everyone out there very well, worked with Ty's mother at Marshall ISD. Ty and Lisa were so patient and helpful. Have known Martha since way before she was a Josey.

I have a mare that has suspensory issues and the lessons in the western store were spot on about wrapping and conditioning the legs.

Anyway, if you go with the attitude that you are going to absorb everything you can you will have a great time and learn a lot.

Best thing I have spent money on. I am not a beginner but also not an old pro. I purchased a nice horse out of Texas to compete on and for the first couple of races we were on fire. Soon after though we couldn't even get around our third barrel to make it home! We were running 3-D times! I tried everything I could that would fix her issue, vet, bit, shoes, everything. Nothing was working. Coughed up the money and went to a 2/12 day clinic. I loved it! They spent the time I needed telling me how to fix our issue and all the information they shared I still use. In fact I loved the clinic so much I sent my young horse to Chris Martin (use to be a Josey clinician) and couldn't be more pleased. You have to go in with an open mind and listen to what they tell you. You are there to learn and not second guess what they tell you. I notice so many people who go and then do the exact opposite or question why they are being told to do this. They will suggest different bits and tack, but only those who need it. I was not told once to change my d-ring snaffle. They really try to work with what you have and help you based on what you are providing. This being said, you need to be completely HONEST with them. They won't judge you. Lying won't help you.
At the end I have suggested to several people that they should go to a Josey clinic and the ones who do go end up learning a lot and loving it.

I went to try to fix small problems that I had. All the problems my horse had on the pattern were my fault, but I needed help to fix it, and that is exactly what I got there. Plus they showed me a new bit that would give me just a touch of different feel with my horse, and it made our entire run much easier and smoother, not to mention faster. So I would go back in a heart beat.

Depends if it's one taught by her or by Team Josey. I've never been to one taught by her but I've been to 4 Team Joseys and won't waste my money on another one. Only reason I went to the 4th one was to bond with my new horse I had just got that week. There good for very basic common things but like someone else said if you have a big problem there of no help. They also at the time didn't limit how many student could attend each clinic. The first one I did had around 80 students. 2 of the ones I did had around 40 and I don't remember about the other one. There was little to no one on one time. I had a bad problem horse that I'm sure Ty remembers because he got so mad at him that he turned around slapped him across the face. He had good reason but I was surprised to see him do it. He had done made me get off a while before that and he got on him and couldn't get him to move so he got off and tried to lead him and he reared up on him but once his front feet hit the ground I think judging by the sound of the slap he regretted rearing. I was like 12 at the time and my dad called and talked to Ty the next week and he big time bragged on me as a rider to be able to handle him but we did eventally have to sell him because he got so bad they couldn't anyone do anything with him.

Even at Josey's Ty, Lisa and the others conduct the clinic. Martha is not as young as she used to be. I swear RE is about the toughest old guy I have ever seen. He was out in that arena for at least 10 hours two days in a row. I had so much fun and learned so much. That is my second clinic. The first was about 1974.

RE actually got on a horse at the one I was at (a 7 day at Josey Ranch), and it was bucking and throwing a fit, and he rode that horse like he was 25 again. Then he trotted it around the pattern and the girl didn't have another problem with him.
