I don't know if it's "diaper rash" or just plain chaffing. His stools are ideal looking, and he really doesn't want me messing with it
(not that I really want to in the first place.
) It's too cold to get in there and scrub it up and baby powder it..... sooo any suggestions on what to give him for some relief? I googled and got A&D ointment and Desitin and I really don't know what those are or where to find them.
I figured I'd ask before I go on a hunt for these things and do some trial and error.

Desitin is in the baby aisle usually as it's a diaper rash cream.
Question is WHY is he rubbing? May be worms...or maybe he needs his sheath cleaned/de-beaned?

it's right in between the butt cheeks. his tail isn't rubbed or raw, it's just right in that crease there. I would think maybe he had a spout of the runs but he's got no evidence of it and while cleaning his stalls his stools are balls but firm, not too hard. I don't really have any idea what's going on back there.

One of my geldings had the same thing a few months ago. I couldn't see what was causing it until I watched him back up to a tree and rub between his cheeks. I dewormed him
(he was due anyway
), and gave his willie a thorough wash. I applied the desitin cream every day for a few days. he quit rubbing and it went away and hasn't come back. Don't know what actually fixed it...but he quit.
