| What is a good way/tool, etc. to put some kind of identification such as DL# on your saddle just in case it gets stolen? |

Location: Sunny So Cal | I have tried and it still doesn't stop it from getting things stolen. I've put dog tags on, had my name engraved on the actual tack item in leather and silver, saddle has a vin#, tried different colors than what people would normally get and still something always ends up stolen. But it is super easy to call people out when you do find them. Then everyone runs them out of the facility. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | It wont keep it from getting stolen. However should someone sees it and can be identified by your markings then it would easy to identified you as the owner. I think putting your name on the back of seat would stand out. I know of a young man who purchased a new saddle and the next day it was stolen. He offered an award. Placed flyers called every auction the whole nine yards. He got it back. His best friend had been riding it daily for 9 months... right under his eyes.. |

do you have a brand you made? for horses or is it a special leather one? Sorry this question sounds stupid but I think it actually sounds like it would look real cool! and someone could notice easily if the saddle was yours or not |

Location: waiting for the thaw | You can micro chip your saddle and other items. I'm not sure if you use the types in pets or another form that could be gps tracked. I think I saw a caldwell ad on here that said it was chipped. Seller may have some info. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | A girl I know has a miniature branding iron (like for branding steaks on the grill) and she used it to put brands on her tack both in places you can see it and places you can't. I would also have serial #'s written down somewhere on your saddles. The serial # along with a prominent marking would help prove ownership. |

This sounds like a good idea and if it is noticable... others could see that it has your brand on it. |

| If this works here is a picture of how I just branded my new saddle. I think I have branded 3 or 4 different saddles.

Location: California | I had very personalized trophy saddles that all could have easily been googled as to who won them and they were all stolen out of my locked trailer a few years back. Saddle pads, bridles, and breastcollars that were all trophy as well. They don't care. My tack, they believed, all went to mexico and it is a whole different ball game down there. |
