| Okay, we have a Great Pyrenee that runs loose at our farm, nice dog BUT EATS anything FedEx or UPS delivers - tried to eat a fireplace grill yesterday! If we have ordered something, I will lock him up, (if I remember), but I am afraid someone will send us something and he will tear it up. I wondered if you can let UPS/FedEx know to leave stuff in an unlocked car or something or will they not do that?
(NO idea why my font just randomly changes).

Location: Florida.. | I think you can request to leave items somewhere but I dont think they can go in a car or home.. maybe on top of car or purchase a large container for them to leave items in.. |

Location: That part of Texas | The guys who deliver in my area know that they can leave stuff in my pickup or one of the vehicles parked, especially since one of my dogs can get a little miffed when someone new approaches the house. I've never had a problem with being able to call and let the dispatcher pass along that information to the delivery guy or letting them know in general that they can do that. If it's a big enough package, they know they can leave it in the back of the pickup in the bed area if the weather is good. |

Location: west of East Texas | Mine will often set it on top of the truck, patio table, or leave it at the barn but I've never asked them to put it inside. If you order a lot and they get to know your address they will generally be very easy to work with. Sometimes you can put the delivery notes on your order. I have had the delivery person call me and ask what I wanted him to do with it if he thought it was something the dogs were going to get into. |

Location: California | It may be worth going to HomeDepot and finding some type of latched container where they could place your items . I know you can leave notes on where to drop packages and a little "Please Leave Deliveries In Here" sign wouldn't hurt. |

Location: Finally horseback again.... | I am lucky, My UPS lady calls me when she is on her way to the house.
Had a USPS driver throw a Saddleright pad out in my pasture with no notice, it was packed in a feed sack... My horses trashed the sack and drug the pad all over creation. Never again with the post office!!!

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Our UPS driver here has my phone number, but only uses it for signature required items or bad weather so I can meet him somewhere.
Since we have four dogs, and encourage them to protect our home, we have always created a designated spot for deliveries.
We use a very large plastic container and call the local hubs when we move to let them know about the container. They don't always use it. The regular fedex and ups drivers are familiar with the dogs and don't mind leaving the packages by the front gate. But they still use the container in bad weather or for multiple items.
I worked for UPS....and honestly think it's the homeowners responsibility to accomodate for deliveries to an extent. If you choose to have your dog loose, then it's up to you to figure out a plan for deliveries. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | Our FedEx and UPS drivers know to leave our deliveries at our barn and are specifically instructed to shut the barn door after delivery so the dogs can't get in. My Great Dane ate a propane detector for our LQ trailer, amongst other things that had been delivered-- LOL--so that is why we had to start having things put away. |

| Yes you can I worked for ups and we got request like .now I live so far out of town that they refuse to deliver so they either swing by work or drop it off at a friend's house and let me know it was left in there. |

This is exactly what I am trying to do. When I know something is going to be delivered, I lock him up, however people may send us gifts and such that I don't know about.
Thank everyone for their helpful ideas. I never thought about a container! |
