| I feed triple crown senior to all my horses regardless of age. I have also been feeding forco as well. Did some research and TC already has both included. Not only that but they are equine specific which most feeds do not. What would be the benefit of adding an additional supplement? Thanks. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Because to get the amount needed you usually need to feed way more then most people feed plus you don't know what the true quality is of what they are adding. Most feed companies started adding things like this for marketing value and aren't really concerned about the correct amount and the right amounts needed to actually work. JMHO |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Another thought...see what happens without the FORCO. I fed Triple Crown Senior for years and without the FORCO...he had gas. |

| When the processed feeds are cooked can the bacteria survive the heat? Quality human probiotics are freeze dried and recommended to be stored in the frig. I am just starting.to learn about this. I assume it would be the same for horses, but I really don't know. This site has always proven to be a good place to learn. |

That is why I never had luck with Fastrak as it has to be fresh and kept in a cool place...Like your refrigerator.
FORCO is a prebiotic and doesn't have any life microbials so the heat or cold doesn't have any effect on them.
Your so right about processed feeds as they also cook out the nutrients and then are added back in. |

| On the TC website they specifically address the issue of microbes dying in the feed manufacturing process and clearly state that their company guarentees the correct amount of LIVE microbes are present in the feed and also micro encapsulated to ensure they get out of the stomach alive as well |

I haven't seen anything bad. I haven't seen an epic weight change either like some have.
But I do notice he stays more "regular" on the road with the Forco than without it. It's just one more thing to keep him belly happy. I'm all for it. |

Location: Willows, CA | I have mentioned before that I am not a fan of daily probiotic feeding. If you feed a diet that does not keep killing off the beneficial bacteria, there is no need to keep artificially replacing it every day. That said, I am a fan of using a probiotic after a trauma, surgery, antibiotic treatment or other insult to the digestive system. A prebiotic is a different deal. The goal there is to support the naturally occurring bacteria by providing a better environment for those bacteria. I use these in all formulations that i do. Most probiotic additions to commercial feed are there as a marketing aid instead of a digestive aid. If you need to add it every day you need to rethink why. |

| I just wormed my horses today. I doubled up on the forco and will do so again tomorrow. Will a probiotic be needed in cases of worming ? |
