Location: Wisconsin | I am in need of new hay bags- 1"-2" openings. The hay nets I have currently are 4+ years old and cost less than $10 each, so I am not interested in spending $20/$30 on one of the name brand nets. None of the local feed/tack stores carry off brand nets, any suggestions on where to order from? |

| I ordered some off of amazon before Christmas, and I believe that they were about $7 or $8 a bag and seem to be holding up to my destructive horses. |

Actual slow feed hay bags kind of like the hay pillows or did you just buy hay nets? |

Best deal Ive ran across so far, any idea if the openings are under 2"? Also, discription says it will fit 3 flakes- how full can you fill yours? I measured mine this morning and they are between 32"-40" and can hold a solid 1/2 bale---- granted they are a few years old. |

| I got the actual hay nets and bought a boatload of them, because I thought as cheap as they were, my destructive horses would have them tore up in a month's time, but they're holding up better than I expected.. Mine seem to have stretched a little bit, but I can easily fit 3 flakes in mine. |

I would say they are no bigger than 2".....I can fit way more than 3 flakes in them, probably 1/3-1/2 bale. I don't have mangers in my trailer and not much ends up on the floor. |

Location: Wisconsin | I know you're interested in buying the cheap ones and don't want the name brand ones, however I have to throw in my 2 cents because this summer I learned the difference....
I bought the cheap $7 Tough 1 brand hay net and it lasted one weekend. It is made of a plastic-y, slick, type material. (Sorry I don't know how to explain it), so the knots slipped out of themselves and the whole thing fell apart. I'd recommend maybe burning the ends of the knots maybe to keep that from happening, because that was a waste of money, lol.
I received a Cinch Chix brand net for my birthday and I just rolled my eyes because I thought that was a huge waste of money for a stupid hay net, especially because I just bought the $7 one and that was such a deal!!! Little did I know Cinch Chix's uses actual ROPE and the knots and net hold up way better after multiple uses. Plus it's 15x easier to load with their patented (I think) loading rope. (Don't know what that's called either, but it's on their website).
Anyways, to each his own, I just know I will be investing in another quality net this summer because of my experiences. Good luck!

Location: Alabama | I have the ones from big Ds! Best money I've spent on horse stuff in the past two years! They hold almost half a bale, openings are 2" or a little less, and they last! |

Location: Southern Indiana | I just got mine from Big Ds yesterday. They are smaller than the hay bags I'm use to using. I was able to stuff them with 5 lbs of grass hay though. I let my horse sample his before he went out. He was kind of angry! He didn't understand why he couldn't get a big bite of hay. Lol Did it take your horses any time to adjust to eating through the smaller holes? |

| Dont want to steal the thread.. Are any of these threads thin enough that if a horse gets hung up they will break? That is my number one concern over cost. Replacing a hay net is way cheaper than a vet bill! I'd love to have small hole hay net! just want it safe! |

The hay nets I have are made out of that poly stuff. I do not that breaking if a horse got caught up in it. I tie my bags up or they are snapped into a hay feeder. My horses don't wear shoes and the openings are not going to allow a hoof thru, unless you've got a mini. |

Big adjustment for 2 of my horses, the 3rd took right to eating out of them like she had been her whole life. The 2 are piggies, they kept trying to take normal bites of hay. They got a mouth full of net instead. |

Location: Ellensburg, Washington | I feed alfalfa/grass hay and was wondering how the horses get to the leaves and the good stuff. Also wondering if anyone has used it for straight alfalfa that isn't very "fluffy". |
